If someone close to you has just had a new arrival, deciding on a gift can be a difficult decision to make. When the first baby in a family arrives, it can be overwhelming for the family if money is tight. The new baby needs so much equipment and at the same time the added costs associated with a new family member can add up.
If you can afford to buy one of the pieces of equipment then that will be most appreciated. Babies need a bassinet or crib, a stroller, a baby bathtub, a car seat, a baby carrier, diaper changing table, rocking chair and a baby Monitor. These are the bigger, more expensive purchases but there are also many more smaller cheaper items that are needed as well.
You can choose from: Crib Bedding, lamps, mobiles, diaper pail. laundry bag, clothing, and baby shampoo and lotion. The family are also going to need bottles and nipples and baby formula or a breastfeeding pillow. Play mats and toys and rattles and baby slings are great gifts as well.
For those of you who are finding the going tough in this economic climate, there are lots of gifts that you can give that don’t cost you any money. The first and most appreciated one I can think of is to give the gift of your time to baby sit baby while the parents have a night out together. You can make up a wonderful looking voucher on your computer and give this gift when you visit. If someone had given me this gift, I would have snapped it up and been so happy. What about offering to look after baby and her needs, during the day, while Mom gets some extra much needed sleep. Or another gift could be that you cook some meals so that Mom doesn’t have to worry about getting dinner.
