Marco Rubio has moved to revoke the green cards of three Iranian nationals living in the United States, citing alleged ties to the Iranian government. The action comes amid heightened scrutiny of individuals connected to Tehran following recent geopolitical tensions.
The individuals identified include Seyed Eissa Hashemi, his wife Maryam Tahmasebi, and their son, who had been residing in Los Angeles. Authorities from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took them into custody as part of removal proceedings, according to reports.
Hashemi is the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, a figure associated with the Iran hostage crisis. Her role during that period drew international attention, and officials cited those connections as part of the rationale behind the enforcement action.
The case follows other recent detentions involving individuals linked to prominent Iranian figures, reflecting a broader tightening of immigration enforcement tied to national security concerns. The situation remains ongoing, with deportation proceedings expected to move forward through the legal system.
