U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has released an Iranian national who had been detained in Blount County during a multi-state enforcement operation in June 2025. The individual, identified as Ribvar Karimi, was among several Iranian nationals taken into custody at the time.

Details surrounding Karimi’s release remain limited. Reports indicate that the conditions of his release and the status of any ongoing immigration proceedings have not been fully disclosed. Officials previously confirmed that he had been detained along with others during an operation in the town of Locust Fork.

According to available information, Karimi had served in the Iranian military before later obtaining a visa to enter the United States. His case has drawn attention amid broader geopolitical tensions involving Iran and ongoing conflict in the region.

At the same time, officials in The White House have been pushing back against recent media coverage related to negotiations with Iran. Karoline Leavitt criticized what she described as inaccurate reporting about a proposed “10-point plan” attributed to Iranian sources, stating that the proposal had been rejected outright.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung also responded publicly, disputing claims that the U.S. had agreed to any such framework. The administration maintains that the reported plan does not reflect actual negotiations and has no official standing.

Leavitt emphasized that the administration’s position remains unchanged, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear program. She stated that any potential agreement would require alignment with U.S. national interests and that sensitive discussions are taking place privately.

Officials have also highlighted the importance of maintaining open access through the Strait of Hormuz as negotiations continue. They cautioned that public statements from Iranian sources may differ significantly from private communications, urging caution in reporting during an active and complex diplomatic process.
