Authorities are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, 84, who was last seen at her Arizona residence late Saturday evening. Law enforcement officials say they are focusing on the period between Saturday night and Sunday morning as they work to establish a timeline of events.
According to officials, Guthrie was dropped off at her home between approximately 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 31. A family member reported that there were no signs of distress or unusual behavior at that time. Concern arose the following day when Guthrie did not attend a scheduled church service and could not be reached. Authorities were contacted later Sunday morning.
Officials stated that evidence identified inside the residence led investigators to determine the situation should not be handled as a routine missing-person case. Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that specialized investigators were brought in to assist, though he declined to provide details about the evidence, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced.
Law enforcement noted that Guthrie was mentally alert and independent, with no known cognitive impairments, but required daily medication. Authorities have said this factor increases the urgency of locating her. Investigators are reviewing available surveillance footage, collecting tips, and asking nearby residents to review doorbell and security camera recordings.
The investigation remains active. Family members have requested privacy, and officials continue to encourage anyone with information that may be relevant to contact law enforcement.
