Despite the new acquisition, sources say the former daytime television host does not plan to permanently return to the United States and will instead split her time between California and the UK.
DeGeneres previously bought a $14 million farmhouse in England’s Cotswolds in June 2024. The move came months after the U.S. presidential election, and she later transitioned to another nearby property better suited to accommodate horses, which are important to her wife, actor Portia de Rossi. The Cotswolds region is located roughly 100 miles northwest of London.
While the couple has established a life overseas, sources told People that they have been missing aspects of California, including the weather and the equestrian lifestyle. De Rossi is known for her interest in horses and polo, which reportedly influenced the decision to maintain a residence in Montecito.
DeGeneres was recently seen shopping for homes in the California coastal community, while reports from England suggest she has spent less time in the Cotswolds in recent months. However, some sources have said she was present in the village regularly over the summer, offering mixed accounts of her time abroad.
In addition to her international living arrangements, DeGeneres remains active in real estate, having a long history of buying and selling high-end properties. She has also continued to speak publicly about political and social issues, and previously confirmed that the U.S. election influenced her decision to spend more time outside the country.
