Federal investigators have released new surveillance images showing a masked individual described as a person of interest at the Tucson, Arizona, home of Nancy Guthrie during the early morning hours of Feb. 1, the time frame when she is believed to have gone missing. The images represent a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of the 84-year-old.
According to the FBI, the newly recovered material builds on earlier footage that showed an unidentified person approaching the residence while appearing to avoid a security camera. FBI Director Kash Patel said the images were retrieved after extensive technical efforts involving federal, local, and private-sector partners, including the recovery of residual data from backend systems after some recording devices were removed or disabled.
Investigators said additional still images appear to show the individual interfering with a front-door security camera. Authorities have not identified the person, confirmed whether they entered the home, or released details about what occurred inside the residence. Officials emphasized that the footage is still being analyzed as they work to reconstruct a detailed timeline of events.
Savannah Guthrie, co-host of NBC’s Today show and Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, shared the images publicly and urged anyone with information to contact law enforcement. Authorities continue to ask for tips as the multi-agency investigation remains active. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the FBI or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
