The Minneapolis march was organized under the name “50501,” a label that stands for “Fifty states, fifty protests, one day.” The network emerged shortly after President Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025 and describes itself as a decentralized movement opposing what it characterizes as undemocratic government actions. Limited information is available about its leadership, and organizers have described the effort as volunteer-driven.
Some observers have questioned why certain demonstrations appear to focus on specific political targets at particular times.
