MAGA Festival Featuring Kid Rock Canceled After Organizer Reports Weak VIP Ticket Sales
A political festival in Northern Kentucky featuring musician Kid Rock and several prominent conservative figures has been canceled days before it was scheduled to take place, with organizer Eric Deters citing unexpectedly weak sales of $1,000 VIP tickets.
Freedom Fest had been scheduled for September 26 at Deters’ farm in Morning View, Kentucky, roughly 25 miles south of Cincinnati. The event had been promoted as a free public gathering featuring political speakers, entertainment, food vendors and fireworks.
Deters announced the cancellation on September 21 through social media. He said the event’s financial model depended heavily on VIP purchases and that only six people had bought the $1,000 tickets.
Kid Rock and Other Conservative Figures Were Scheduled to Appear
The 2026 lineup was expected to include Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, as well as television personality Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman.
Republican Rep. James Comer, Republican congressional candidate Ed Gallrein and Fox News contributor Joe Concha were also listed among the scheduled participants.
Previous editions of Freedom Fest have featured other well-known conservative figures, including Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Candace Owens. The event has been held since 2022 and has attracted thousands of attendees in previous years, according to local reporting.
Organizer Says VIP Sales Were Supposed to Fund the Event
According to Deters, Freedom Fest was designed so that general admission could remain free while revenue from VIP tickets helped cover the cost of putting on the event.
He said he had expected roughly 100 people in his network to purchase $1,000 VIP tickets.
Instead, he said, only six VIP tickets had been sold before the cancellation.
Deters expressed frustration with wealthy supporters who he said had declined to purchase the tickets. He separately emphasized that he did not view the cancellation as evidence that ordinary attendees had lost interest in the event.
General Admission Was Free
The distinction between the VIP program and general admission is important.
Freedom Fest was advertised as a free event for the broader public. The $1,000 tickets provided access to a VIP area and were intended to provide financial support for the event.
As a result, the reported ticket problem was specifically associated with the premium tickets rather than evidence that organizers had attempted to charge thousands of attendees for general admission.
Deters Says He Will Not Bring the Event Back
Following the cancellation, Deters said he did not intend to organize Freedom Fest again.
He has hosted the event as part of his broader political and media activities in Kentucky. Deters previously ran as a Republican candidate for governor of Kentucky in 2023 and has continued to comment on political issues through his social-media platforms.
In announcing the cancellation, he blamed the financial shortfall rather than a lack of support from the event’s broader audience.
Cancellation Does Not Establish a Broader Decline in MAGA Support
The circumstances surrounding Freedom Fest should not automatically be interpreted as a measurement of support for President Donald Trump or the broader MAGA movement.
The event had a specific financing structure, depended on a relatively small number of high-priced VIP purchases and was organized by a private individual.
A weak response to a $1,000 VIP ticket does not by itself establish how many people would have attended the free portion of the event or indicate broader political preferences among voters.
Deters himself made that distinction when discussing the cancellation, arguing that the problem was paying for the event rather than attracting ordinary attendees.
Why the Cancellation Is Drawing Attention
The cancellation comes at a time when political organizations and candidates are closely watching fundraising and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Freedom Fest had developed a following in Northern Kentucky and had previously brought together conservative politicians, media personalities and entertainers.
The planned appearance by Kid Rock also gave the event a higher national profile than a typical local political gathering.
Nevertheless, the available reporting points to a specific financial problem involving VIP sales as the stated reason for the cancellation.

For people who had planned to attend the September 26 event, Freedom Fest will no longer take place as scheduled.
Deters has said he does not plan to organize another edition, although no broader decision about future political events at his farm has been announced.
