U.S. Forces Intercept Iranian Missiles Targeting American Troops

Trump said American forces had only a limited amount of time to respond after Iran launched the surprise missile attack.

According to the president, U.S. military personnel successfully detected and destroyed the incoming missiles before they reached their intended targets.

Trump said he later reviewed footage of the operation, showing American personnel tracking missile locations and coordinating defensive responses in real time.

The president praised the speed and effectiveness of U.S. air defense systems during the attack.

Trump Says U.S.-Saudi Strikes Targeted Iran-Backed Militias

Trump also revealed that overnight strikes by U.S. and Saudi forces against Iran-backed Shiite militias in Iraq were conducted in coordination with the Iraqi government.

He described the militias as a major security threat and called them a “cancer on the world.”

The president said his administration is considering additional warnings and possible actions against Iranian proxy groups operating across the region.

Iran Launches Ballistic Missile and Drone Attack Against U.S. Forces

The latest escalation followed a brief period of reduced fighting between Washington and Tehran.

Iran launched a series of ballistic missiles and drones Tuesday targeting a U.S. military installation in Jordan, marking another significant increase in tensions.

U.S. Central Command said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched the missiles from central Iran at approximately 5:45 p.m. Eastern Time.

CENTCOM reported that all incoming missiles were intercepted before reaching their targets.

No Casualties Reported After Missile Interception

Iranian state media confirmed that multiple missiles were fired from central Iran toward Jordan.

Despite the scale of the attack, officials reported no casualties or significant damage from the attempted strike.

The successful interception prevented another direct attack on U.S. personnel stationed in the region.

Iran Attacks Jordan-Based U.S. Positions After Ceasefire Collapse

The missile attack follows several Iranian strikes targeting locations in Jordan that host American forces.

A ceasefire arrangement between the United States and Iran collapsed on July 8, leading to renewed military exchanges and increased concerns that the conflict could expand.

Jordan, a key U.S. partner in the Middle East, has become a focal point because of its strategic location and its role in supporting American military operations.

Regional Conflict Raises Fears of Wider Middle East Escalation

The latest confrontation has increased concerns that fighting between the United States and Iran could draw in additional countries and regional actors.

Iran has relied on allied militant groups across the Middle East, while the United States has warned that attacks on American personnel or allies will trigger responses.

The situation remains highly unstable as both sides weigh their next moves following the missile attack and retaliatory strikes.

U.S. Defenses Hold as Troops React in Minutes

According to the president, U.S. personnel had only minutes to respond and shot down every incoming missile before it could reach its target. Trump said he later reviewed video of the real-time operation, watching American air defense teams call out coordinates as systems engaged the threats.
