RNC Chair Says GOP In Good Shape To Outspend Democrats In Midterms

Joe Gruters says Republicans could enter the upcoming midterm elections with one of the strongest financial advantages the party has seen in years. Speaking during an interview on Breitbart News Daily, Gruters argued that Republicans are better organized and more financially prepared than Democrats heading into the 2026 election cycle. He claimed the conservative movement is operating with greater coordination among party committees, outside groups, and allies connected to President Donald Trump.

During the interview, host Mike Slater asked Gruters about reports that Democrats and allied groups spent roughly $70 million during a recent redistricting battle in Virginia. Gruters responded by claiming that Democratic fundraising organizations are facing financial challenges, while Republican groups have significantly larger collective resources available for campaign spending. He suggested conservative organizations together could have access to hundreds of millions of dollars this cycle.

Gruters also pointed to the Republican National Committee and congressional campaign organizations as evidence of growing GOP momentum. According to his comments, the RNC and allied Republican committees currently hold strong cash reserves that could help support congressional candidates nationwide. He further emphasized the role of conservative organizations and grassroots fundraising efforts in building a unified strategy focused on maintaining Republican majorities in Congress.

In addition to discussing fundraising, Gruters highlighted coordination between Republican leadership and Trump’s political operation. He said Republican groups are working closely together to align campaign messaging, voter outreach, and spending priorities ahead of the midterms. Political observers note that financial advantages can play a major role in advertising, voter turnout efforts, and campaign infrastructure during competitive elections.

Meanwhile, a recent poll from Zogby Strategies found Democrats and Republicans nearly tied on the generic congressional ballot ahead of the midterm elections. The survey showed Democrats with a narrow lead within the margin of error, marking a significant shift from earlier polling that gave Democrats a larger advantage. The poll also found Democrats maintaining stronger support on issues such as healthcare, affordability, and trust in government, while Republicans continue focusing heavily on economic concerns, campaign organization, and voter mobilization efforts.
